Privacy notice — Skipper Check research
Effective Date: 07.10.2026
Latest Update: 07.10.2026
1. About This Notice
Skipper Check is a product in development by CS TECHNOLOGIES, LDA. Before building it, we are asking yacht charter operators and agents a few questions through a short questionnaire (the “Questionnaire”) and inviting some of them to a pilot in the 2027 season. Nothing is for sale yet.
This notice explains what personal data we collect through the Questionnaire, why, and what your rights are. It does not cover our website (see our website privacy policy) or our mobile apps.
2. Who We Are
CS TECHNOLOGIES, LDA is the data controller for the data collected through the Questionnaire.
- Address: Avenida Sacadura Cabral 44, 1000-276, Lisbon, Portugal
- NIPC: 518840956
- Privacy contact: legal@carrotsauce.com
3. What We Collect
The Questionnaire asks for:
- the name of your company or base, your role and your fleet size;
- how you check skippers today, who makes the final decision, and how many resumes you review;
- whether a skipper’s inexperience has cost you money, time or a dispute, and, if you choose to tell us, what happened;
- whether you would like to take part in the 2027 pilot;
- your email address, only if you want us to reply;
- how you found the Questionnaire.
Please do not include names or other details that identify individual skippers, clients or colleagues in your free-text answers. If you do, we will remove them when we review your answers.
Google, which hosts the Questionnaire (Google Forms), also processes technical data needed to deliver it, such as your IP address and browser type.
4. Why We Use It and Our Legal Basis
We use your answers to:
- understand how charter operators check skippers today and decide whether, and how, to build Skipper Check;
- contact you about the pilot, only if you gave us your email address and asked to hear back.
Our legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the consent box and submitting the Questionnaire. Answering is voluntary. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing legal@carrotsauce.com; withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before it.
We do not use your answers for advertising, we do not sell them, and we do not add you to a mailing list. We do not make automated decisions about you.
5. Who Can See Your Data
Only the founder of CS TECHNOLOGIES, LDA reviews individual answers. Google LLC processes the data on our behalf as the provider of Google Forms, Google Sheets and Google Workspace, under Google’s data processing terms.
If we share or publish results, we do so only in aggregated or anonymised form (for example, “most of the operators we asked review resumes by hand”). We never share your individual answers with other operators, agents or third parties.
6. How Long We Keep It
We keep Questionnaire answers until 31 December 2027, then delete them. We may keep anonymised, aggregated results after that date.
If you take part in the pilot, the pilot agreement will explain how long we keep the data needed to run it.
7. International Data Transfers
Google may process data in the United States and other countries where it operates. Google provides appropriate safeguards for these transfers through certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (including its UK and Swiss extensions), the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
8. Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent. To use any of these rights, email legal@carrotsauce.com. We will reply within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Portugal this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), www.cnpd.pt. You can also complain in the EU member state where you live or work.
9. Changes to This Notice
If we change this notice, we will update the “Latest Update” date at the top of this page.
